Advanced Practice Student, CNS Track in Adult Surgical Specialty Services is a learning Clinician role within the OU Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Intern Program. The program provides exposure to practicing Clinical Nurse Specialists, physicians, and leadership; prepares the student for transition to practice in a traditional CNS role by engaging in evidence-based practice, nursing research, and population-based programs of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include functioning as a learning clinical expert in RN practice, designing and evaluating care in collaboration with the care team, leading nursing practice improvements, and participating in committees and projects system-wide. Required qualifications include a BSN, enrollment in a MSN (Clinical Nurse Specialist) program, 2 years RN experience, current Oklahoma RN license (or eNLC), attainment of APRN licensure/certification within 90 days of graduation, and BLS certification.
