Job Summary
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) providing comprehensive hospice and palliative care under the direction of hospice physicians. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to perform assessments, diagnoses, and develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients and families at end of life. Prescribes non-scheduled medications within delegated scope, orders treatments and durable medical equipment, and coordinates with physicians for certifications and CMS/HIPAA compliance. Requires Florida APRN licensure, HPNA (ACHPN) certification within 12 months, CPR/BLS, EMR experience, and CE maintenance; minimum 1 year APRN experience preferred. Works in Fort Pierce, FL, with a focus on adherence to hospice protocol, patient-family communication, and maintaining professional standards and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- current unencumbered nursing license to practice professional nursing in the State of Florida
- successful completion of national advanced practice certification examination degree program required for initial licensure
- Certified Hospice and Palliative Registered Nurse (HPNA)(ACHPN) within 12 months
- Current CPR (BLS) for health care provider
- Basic computer skills and EMR software experience preferred
- Minimum one year experience as an APRN preferred
- Knowledge of scope of practice, legal implications to include statutes and regulations relevant to APRNs
- Advance knowledge of pharmacology appropriate for hospice/palliative care
- Demonstrate written and verbal communications with the interdisciplinary team
- Maintain harmonious professional relationships with hospice palliative care team, patients and families
- Knowledge of medication administration, side effects and calculation
- Knowledge of infection control
- Knowledge of the nursing process and its application, including assessment, diagnosis implementation and evaluation
- Complete and maintain nursing CE requirements for each license renewal period
- Attendance is a condition of employment
