Advanced Practice Provider - Vascular Neurology

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive care for hospitalized stroke patients, including ED and inpatient consultations, daily rounding, admissions, discharges, and management of inpatient orders. Assess health status through histories and physicals, order and interpret tests, make diagnoses, treat injuries, assist with surgical procedures, counsel patients, and prescribe medication. Collaborate with attending physicians to develop treatment plans, coordinate care across the continuum, and reduce length of stay. Initiate emergency procedures as needed and maintain effective communication with the multidisciplinary team. Works approximately 1–2 weekends per month with minimal nights.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant Program
- Current Virginia licensure from the appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant
- Current national certification as appropriate for the role
- Credentialing in accordance with medical staff by-laws for specific job titles
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications
- Three (3) years of previous clinical experience with the population served
- Cultural Responsiveness
Desired Qualifications
- Service-specific education
- Additional certifications, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric services
- Previous experience in an academic healthcare system
