Job Summary
Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team, while focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. Order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory work and x-rays, and prescribe medication dosages based on patient diagnosis permitted under State and DEA licensure. Perform routine medical examinations, formulate comprehensive treatment plans, and document all health care services in patient records. Provide primary care procedures including suturing, splinting, administering immunizations, and wound care. Schedule follow-up visits, counsel patients on drug regimens, and refer to specialists when conditions exceed scope of practice. Maintain current knowledge of state legal regulations and departmental policies. Available for 24-hour coverage based on facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant studies
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, or as a Physician Assistant in the state the facility is located
- Current DEA license
- Maintain current copy of applicable licenses at the facility
- Be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
Desired Qualifications
- Two (2) years of advanced practice experience
