Job Summary
Advanced Practice Provider in Rheumatology providing comprehensive, autonomous care in collaboration with rheumatology physicians. Responsibilities include obtaining patient histories, performing comprehensive examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing acute and chronic conditions, triaging inquiries, supporting infusion-center operations, handling prior authorizations and treatment approvals, educating patients and caregivers, building a clinical practice with the supervising physician, prioritizing access for OA patients, coordinating across the care team, reviewing external records, documenting in the EMR, prescribing medications, and participating in ongoing professional development and QA activities. The role requires prescribing and coordinating MSK/rheumatology care, familiarity with traditional DMARDs, biologics, and related therapies, and adherence to professional standards and HIPAA. Hospital for Special Surgery location in NYC with facilities across NY, NJ, CT, and FL.
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Board certification from ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
- NP Masters Nursing (FNP or AGNP preferred) or PA Masters Physician Assistant Studies; graduate of CAAHEP-accredited PA program; PA or NP certification
- Strong clinical and communication skills; ability to manage outpatient rheumatology practice; ability to perform procedures such as arthrocentesis and joint injections; ability to coordinate care with infusion center and supervising physician
