Advanced Practice Provider (PNP/Physician Assistant) Cardiovascular Pre-Admission Testing/Procedural

Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing care for high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients in pre-admission testing, cardiac surgery, catheterization, and electrophysiology procedures. Evaluate patients in clinic, order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, analyze complex data, and develop differential diagnoses under a collaborative practice agreement with board-certified pediatric cardiologists and surgeons. Facilitate patient movement from same-day surgery to the cardiovascular operating room and then to the cardiac intensive care unit while supporting families and the peri-op team. Actively participate in beginning leadership, evidence-based practice, and organizational development activities with mentor support. This role is part of the premier Ward Family Heart Center, which serves children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease using advanced hybrid cardiac operating rooms and cath labs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- 1-2 years pediatric APRN experience
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
- Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
- RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
- APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting
- Acute Care PNP
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) in MO & KS
- Life Support Certifications
- Seasonal influenza vaccine
- Willingness to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella)
- Evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005
- Medical and/or religious exemptions discussion (if applicable)
Desired Qualifications
- Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty
- Two years to be enrolled in a program and five years to complete the program
- Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population
- Passion for the fast-paced environment of the cardiac procedural area
- Enthusiasm to grow their advanced practice career caring for the pediatric cardiac population
- Beginning leadership experience
- Evidenced-based practice/research experience
- Organizational development experience
- Support and direction from an experienced APRN mentor
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with fellow employees, patients, parents and visitors
- Unique contributions including education, ideas, culture, and beliefs
