Job Summary
Provision, coordinate, and assure comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process, diagnose illness, and perform therapeutic measures within a collaborative practice agreement. Plan and organize care to meet individual patient needs while monitoring cost effectiveness and efficiency indicators. Formulate plans of care with attending physicians and patients, order diagnostic studies, and prescribe medications including controlled substances per NY State law. Evaluate treatment plans for effectiveness, modify based on clinical standards, and provide therapeutic regimen consultation to nursing staff. Assist in preparing and implementing research protocols, participate in quality improvement activities, and serve as a clinical expert for peer education. Maintain current expertise in hematology/oncology, consider cultural needs of patient groups, and facilitate continuity of care across the continuum including home care and outpatient appointments.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York
- Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Certification by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice
- ACLS, PALS, NRP Provider
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program
- NALS per delineation of privileges
- Prior Oncology experience
- Registered Nurse License-NYS
- Nurse Practitioner-NYS
