Job Summary

Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA/CNS) in Primary Care performs comprehensive histories and physicals, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, develops and implements treatment plans, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team. The role emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention, patient education on disease and treatment options, and involvement in education programs and quality monitoring. Responsibilities include rounds participation, care coordination, discharge planning, researching and applying evidence-based practices, and potential clinical preceptorship or onboarding of new caregivers. Requires national certification as an NP/PA, applicable state licensure as RN/APRN/PA, and credentialing/privileging by the Medical Executive Committee; may require BLS and ACLS/PALS/NRP depending on work setting; DEA license or designee may be required for prescribing. Demonstrated clinical decision-making, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • MSN required upon hire or within 3 years for APRN path
  • Graduate of an accredited APRN program (APRN track: MSN)
  • PA: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher from ARC-PA program
  • National certification as Nurse Practitioner (NP) and RN license in applicable states
  • PA certification through NCCPA or equivalent
  • Current DEA license or designee as required by NCQA
  • BLS required; ACLS/PALS or NRP may be required based on work setting
  • Credentialed and privileged by Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of applicable hospitals
  • Arrangements with at least one physician in accordance with state Boards of Nursing requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare team
  • Experience in primary or specialty care settings preferred
  • Ability to educate patients and participate in quality monitoring and discharge planning
  • Ability to conduct physical examinations and order/interpret routine diagnostics
  • May oversee or onboard new caregivers or serve as clinical preceptor
  • Possession or eligibility for state APRN or PA licensure
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment
