Job Summary
Manage all phases of Neurology patient management in a Joint Commission accredited stroke center, including neurological evaluations, clinical documentation in the EMR, and comprehensive discharge planning. Formulate treatment plans for acute illness, perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures, and initiate emergency interventions to stabilize patients. Collaborate with consulting physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient throughput while utilizing prescriptive privileges as allowed by NY licensure. Participate in quality improvement activities, clinical research trials, and accreditation compliance efforts. Provide patient and family-centered care supported by I-CARE values, including education on disease processes and medication prescribing. Full-time rotating shifts combining morning and night duties.
Required Qualifications
- Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant
- Physician Assistant's must have current NCCPA certification
- Bachelor's Degree required
- NYS licensed with certification
- Nurse Practitioner: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AG-ACNP) required with board certification
- Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C)
- DEA registration required for those with discharge responsibilities
- Current NIH Stroke Scale
- BLS/ACLS/AED training required and accepted from only one organization: American Heart Association - BLS/ACLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program
- No online programs from any organization will be accepted
