Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role at Tennessee Oncology includes providing comprehensive care in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Responsibilities include assessing patient health, documenting medical histories, performing physical exams, managing treatment plans, writing prescriptions, and educating patients and families about care options. Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in nursing or certification as a Physician Assistant, a license to practice as an RN or PA in Tennessee, and national certification as an APP. Preferred qualifications include oncology nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- License to practice as RN or PA in the state of Tennessee required
- Master’s degree in nursing or certification as a Physician Assistant required
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year oncology nurse experience preferred
- National certification as APP (American Nurses' Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners)
- Clinical Nurse Specialist who meets criteria for certificate of fitness to prescribe medications
Additional Requirements
- APPs without oncology experience are expected to work as a staff nurse for a minimum of 1 month before transitioning into APP role
- APPs without sufficient experience as a Registered Nurse are required to work as a staff nurse for a minimum of 12 months
