Job Summary
Assess physical and psychosocial status of patients, obtain comprehensive health histories, and perform system-focused physical exams while identifying urgent problems. Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, write prescriptions, and administer therapeutic measures in accordance with practice protocols. Manage cancer symptoms and side effects, provide care for clinical trial participants, and perform procedures such as bone marrow biopsies as needed. Educate patients and families on treatment plans, facilitate decision-making, and present updates to professionals at local, regional, and national levels. Maintain certification through the American Nursing Credentialing Center and work as required by clinic needs, including on-call rotation for hospital rounding and admissions.
Required Qualifications
- License to practice as RN or PA in the state of Tennessee
- Master's degree in nursing or certification as a Physician Assistant
- National certification as APP (American Nurses' Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners)or Clinical Nurse Specialist who meets criteria for certificate of fitness to prescribe medications, including AOCN, AOCNP, AOCNS or Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to remain upright on the feet most of the time
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position half of the time
- Ability to communicate, distinguish sounds, and visualize
- Regular manual dexterity
- Occasional reaching or stretching
- Occasional crouching or stooping
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of one year oncology nurse experience preferred
