Job Summary
Counsel and educate cardiac critical care patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document delivery of care and nursing processes in accordance with standards and network policy. Obtain patient history, perform assessments via observation and interview, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management of cardiac conditions using prescriptive authority or referrals, while engaging in discharge planning. Participate in orientation and education of staff and students. This role supports the Texas Center for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Disease at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, delivering world-class pediatric cardiac critical care to the regional population within a multidisciplinary team.
Required Qualifications
- Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing
- Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care
- Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing
- Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
- Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
- Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
