Job Summary

Counsel cardiac critical care patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Document delivery of cardiac critical health care and nursing processes per standards and network policy. Obtain patient history, perform assessments via observation, interview, and examination, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies. Provide direct treatment and management of cardiac conditions via prescriptive authority or referral, including discharge planning. Participate in orientation and education of staff and students. Work within a multidisciplinary team to serve the regional pediatric population at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

Required Qualifications

  • Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care
  • Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing
  • Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Critical Care Unit
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance
  • Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations
  • Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team
