Advanced Practice Provider - Bone Marrow Transplant

Job Summary

Conduct high-quality medical and surgical patient care for bone marrow transplant and cellular immunotherapy patients on the inpatient service, including histories, physicals, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic interventions. Manage acute and chronic complaints while independently acting on the service overnight with attending physician support. Collaborate within the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care across the continuum, make rounds, and document all pertinent information. Formulate treatment plans that address physical, spiritual, and psychosocial aspects of patients and families to decrease length of stay. Serve as a consultant to other health care professionals and participate in research, clinical trials, and educational activities for residents and fellows.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife or Physician Assistant Program
  • Current Virginia licensure from the appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant
  • Current national certification as appropriate for the role
  • Credentialing in accordance with medical staff by-laws for specific job titles
  • Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric services
  • Maintain appropriate certification requirements to continue VCUHS privileges
  • Previous clinical experience with the population served
  • Cultural Responsiveness

Desired Qualifications

  • Service-specific education
  • Three (3) years of previous clinical experience with the population served
  • Previous experience in an academic healthcare system
