Job Summary
Attend high-risk deliveries, complete initial newborn history and physical exams for all newborns, and oversee care on the Mother-Baby/LDRP unit when a pediatrician is not on duty. Provide educational management to patients and families regarding health promotion, disease processes, and diagnostic tests. Educate and counsel patients regarding procedures and treatment, while coordinating administration of rapid-acting medications via direct intravenous and other routes. Help schedule and coordinate procedures, tests, new referrals, admissions, and appointments. This role supports U.S. and Coalition forces at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, the only forward-stationed medical center for U.S. forces in Europe.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizens
- A graduate or higher-level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program
- Accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- A degree from a Foreign Nursing School with official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools
- A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Passing the National Council Licensure Examination
- A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Neonatal or related specialty
- One or more full years of professional advanced practice nursing experience which includes maintaining patient care, providing medical assessments, and interpreting diagnostic tests
