Job Summary
Provide comprehensive mental health care to children, adolescents, and adults by performing psychiatric intakes, evaluations, and prescribing medications. Educate patients on medication risks, benefits, and side effects while monitoring progress and efficacy. Coordinate with primary care and other providers for referrals, feedback, and ongoing care. Maintain accurate records using computerized systems for documentation and coding while complying with Joint Commission standards and quality initiatives. Participate in quality improvement systems and projects. Work Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1600.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizen
- A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
- Accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- Passed the National Council Licensure Examination
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or related specialty
- Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency
- Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
- One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes performing psychiatric intakes and evaluations, providing patient education, and prescribing medication
- CGFNS Qualifying Exam (for foreign graduates)
- Evidence of passing an approved English Language Proficiency examination (for foreign graduates)
- Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools Certification Program (for foreign graduates)
