Job Summary
Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines, mills, lathes, and metrology equipment for university and high school coursework. Instruct students on safe tool usage, demonstrate lab procedures, and provide technical support for faculty-led training sessions. Manage lab inventory, execute preventative maintenance schedules, and coordinate mobile lab setups for off-site assignments. Enforce shop safety regulations and lead tours for prospective students while collaborating with faculty and stakeholders. Requires valid driver's license for local travel to training venues.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-years of experience in the operation, maintenance and support of laboratory electronic and mechanical analytical equipment
- similar relevant experience with equipment operation and maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Valid driver's license
- reliable transportation for local travel to off-site training assignments
- Associate degree in related technical field
- sufficient demonstrated expertise in related lab equipment
- Valid license & insured vehicle
- Close vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 inches or less)
- Distance vision (i.e. clear vision at 20 feet or more)
- Color vision (i.e. ability to identify and distinguish colors)
- Peripheral vision (i.e. ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or left and right while the eyes are fixed on a given point)
- Depth perception (i.e. three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language
- Excellent technology and computer skills
- Knowledge of CMM language and PC-DMIS
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical and electrical components and tools
- Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook)
- Associate degree in related technical field preferred
- Operate, Setup and Instruct - CNC Machines, Manual Mill & Lathe, Surface Grinder, Live-Tooling Lathe
- Operate, Setup and Instruct - 5 Axis Mill
- Operate coordinate measurement machines, metrology tools, microscopy, and other analytical and processing equipment
- Inspect and test mechanical and electronic equipment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- organizational and logistic skills
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Work collaboratively with faculty to support learning as well as with high school and adult students
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to Lead Quality Technician, faculty members, students and other stakeholders
