Job Summary
Assess illness or injury to prioritize medical procedures, stabilize cardiac and non-breathing patients, and administer initial treatment at emergency scenes. Record vital signs, document patient care using HEMSI-approved methods, and communicate with hospital personnel via approved channels. Maintain vehicle readiness through restocking, cleaning, and minor maintenance while adhering to safety and security protocols. Meet HEMSI response time standards and uphold licensure and protocol updates. Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality.
Required Qualifications
- State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT
- Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
- EVOC
- Valid and current driver's license
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- undergraduate EMT certificate
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to legibly write routine reports and correspondence
