Job Summary

Assess illness or injury to prioritize medical procedures and stabilize cardiac or non-breathing patients. Administer initial treatment at emergency scenes, record vital signs, and communicate with hospital personnel via HEMSI-approved methods. Maintain vehicle readiness through restocking, cleaning, and minor maintenance while adhering to safety protocols. Document patient care accurately and assist in coordinating additional personnel on scene. Meet HEMSI response time standards and maintain up-to-date credentials regarding licensing and protocol changes. Provide excellent customer service to patients and families while ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines and HEMSI privacy policies.

Required Qualifications

  • State of Alabama EMSP License as EMT
  • Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
  • EVOC
  • Valid and current driver's license
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • required undergraduate EMT certificate
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
