Job Summary
Provides Advanced Life Support, responding to emergency situations involving critically ill or injured patients. Responsible for managing patient care and providing training to less-trained personnel. Requires knowledge of advanced medical skills such as intubations, drug therapy, and emergency response operations. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree preferred, and hold specific certifications including AEMT, ACLS, and CPR. Candidates must be capable of performing under high-stress conditions and have good communication and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Unrestricted AEMT Louisiana Licensure / National Registry Certification
- CPR for the Health Care Provider certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (preferred)
- Unrestricted state driver’s license (Louisiana Class D license)
- Certification in ICS 005, 100, 200, 700, 800
Desired Qualifications
- Good knowledge of street systems and addresses
- Understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of victims
- Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress situations
- Strong report writing skills
Additional Requirements
- Must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency medicine
- Must attend continuing education classes to maintain certification
