Job Summary
Advanced Dance Instructor provides high-quality dance instruction to intermediate and advanced-level students (ages 1-12) across styles including Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, and Jazz. Responsibilities include planning and implementing engaging lessons, choreographing performances and recitals, communicating with families, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, taking attendance and maintaining class records, developing curriculum and program improvements, collaborating with staff, and arriving prepared to teach. Requires minimum five years of dance teaching experience, strong technique across multiple disciplines, ability to demonstrate techniques, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification or plan to obtain within six months. Evening and weekend availability required in a part-time role at Clauss Recreation Center in Roselle Park, NJ. Ensures positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and community members and upholds organizational policies and safety guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of five (5) years of dance teaching experience required
- Strong technical knowledge and teaching experience in ballet and at least one additional discipline such as jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, modern, musical theatre, or pointe
- Ability to safely demonstrate dance techniques, skills, and choreography
- Experience teaching children, teens, and adults in a group instruction setting
- Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required or obtained within six (6) months of hire
