Job Summary
Conduct overnight evaluation and management of patients in the Extended Care Unit (EMU) of Advance Urgent Care, utilizing evidence-based clinical pathways to determine appropriate levels of care. Assess patients for discharge, continued observation, hospital admission, or alternative settings such as Advanced Care at Home. Collaborate with Emergency Medicine physicians, hospitalists, nursing, and case management to coordinate timely patient care and disposition while facilitating efficient throughput through diagnostic testing and specialty consultations. Work independently during night shifts (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.) with a potential 7 on 7 off rotation and 14 shifts per month, with locations in Largo, Lutherville-Timonium, or South Baltimore. Requires MD or DO with board certification in Internal Medicine and licensure in Maryland, Virginia, or D.C.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Currently licensed or able to obtain licenses in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia
- Covering night shifts (7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.)
- EMU (extended care unit) part of advanced urgent care
- Observational hospitalist
- Provide overnight evaluation and management of patients
- Utilizing evidence-based clinical pathways
- Assess patients for discharge, continued observation, hospital admission, or alternative care settings
- Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine physicians, hospitalists, consultants, nursing, case management, and ancillary services
- Facilitate efficient patient throughput by coordinating diagnostic testing, specialty consultations, and transitions of care
- Work independently overnight
- Partnering with the Hospital Medicine and Emergency Department teams
- 7 on 7 off rotation
- 14 shifts a month
- Potential to work at EMU in Lutherville-Timonium and South Baltimore Medical centers
