Job Summary
Assess patient status through interviews, physical exams, and diagnostic studies to formulate treatment plans. Surgically close wounds, perform incision and drainage, and scrub in the operating room with a collaborating surgeon. Diagnose medical and surgical problems, prescribe medications, and implement management based on laboratory results and evidence-based medicine. Conduct or participate in multidisciplinary rounds, quality initiatives, and IRB-approved clinical research trials. Dictate accurate documentation, perform patient education, and assist in teaching students, residents, and interns. Participate in department call rotations and weekend/holiday rounding as required. Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and demonstrate effective communication with diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner: MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing
- Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited physician assistant program
- Nurse Practitioner: APRN license in the state of Florida
- After July 1, 2006, licensure applicants are required to have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board
- Maintains current BLS certification
- Physician Assistant: Maintain current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida
- Maintain current BLS/healthcare certification
- Participates in the department call rotation and/or weekend/ holiday rounding as required
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families
