Job Summary
Conduct advanced patient care across critical care, trauma, and surgery units, performing first assist and procedures such as chest tube and line placement. Manage multidisciplinary team responsibilities while adhering to Sarasota Memorial Health Care System policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory guidelines. Provide high-quality, cost-effective nursing services within approved scope of practice, including independent clinical judgment, pharmacology, and accurate medical documentation for billing. Maintain ACLS and BLS certifications, ensuring compliance with Florida state laws and Medicare requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing
- Master's Degree in nursing
- Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law
- Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03
- Approved APRN board certification
- Certification as an APRN by a recognized national certifying body

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of state, federal and local health care agencies and programs
- Ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting
- Demonstrated clinical competency skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing
- Demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing
- Demonstrated written & verbal communication & strong analytical skills
- Effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting
- Effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations
- M D: Masters Degree
- ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- BLS: Basic Life Support
