Job Summary
Crisis Therapist in the Adult Behavioral Health Program at The Guidance Center. Provide screening, assessment and crisis intervention services via telehealth to adults referred by local police; determine appropriate level of care; provide transitional support, advocacy and care coordination in-person and via telehealth; respond to crisis calls during on-call hours; on-site, day-shift, full-time with flexible scheduling. Requires a Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling and state licensure with ongoing credential requirements (CAADC/MCBAP/SATS) and the ability to engage adults with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders; must be proficient with technology and demonstrate trauma-informed care and strong communication skills. Salary starts at $53,079 per year plus benefits; location is Southgate, MI (on-site).
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling
- Must possess corresponding State of Michigan licensure (LLMSW, LLPC, TLLP, LMSW, LPC or LLP) or obtain licensure within 60 days of hire; continued licensure required
- Must obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional and SATS credentials within 120 days of hire
- Must possess a CAADC credential, or be on an active, approved MCBAP Development Plan within six weeks of hire; submit Development Plan within 30 days if required
- Ability to engage adults diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders and their families
- Trauma-informed care and crisis-management capabilities
- Proficiency with technology, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work independently
- Nonjudgmental approach with cultural competency
