Job Summary
Adult Peer Support Specialist - Jade (2nd Shift) provides peer counseling and support to clients, leveraging personal recovery experience to validate experiences, motivate participation in recovery, and guide clients. The role serves as a mentor to clients, offers MH consumer perspective to the team, assists in treatment, education, support and consultation, and helps clients identify strategies to reduce stigma. Responsibilities include organizing individual and group activities, facilitating social connections, ensuring confidentiality, completing timely documentation, and supporting clients in daily living and recovery goals. Requires experience with mental illness populations, a degree in human services or related field (or equivalent experience), KY driver’s license, CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain), and preference for Peer Specialist Certification or willingness to obtain it; adherence to Kentucky regulation 908 KAR 2:220 for training, continuing education, and supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working (paid or volunteer) with individuals with mental illness or similar populations
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services or related field OR at least 2 years paid or volunteer work with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses
- Valid KY Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Current CPR/First aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Peer Specialist Certification strongly preferred or ability/willingness to obtain certification within 6 months
