Job Summary
Provide peer counseling and support to clients, families, and team staff by validating experiences, guiding recovery goals, and facilitating peer-led groups on relapse prevention and coping skills. Assist clients in accessing community resources, establishing support systems, and combating stigma while modeling healthy behaviors. Offer expertise on mental health symptoms, medication effects, and treatment responses to the multidisciplinary team. Maintain confidential documentation in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Kentucky regulations. Complete after-care contacts and participate in ongoing training and supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Past or present consumer of behavioral health (mental health or substance use) treatment with a history of sufficient progression toward recovery
- Valid KY driver's license and clean driving record to be insurable by agency liability insurance company
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of beginning employment
- Peer Specialist Certification strongly preferred or ability/willingness to obtain certification within 6 months of employment
