Adult Faith Formation Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinate adult sacramental preparation programs in English and Spanish, including OCIA, healing ministries, and catechist formation. Collaborate with the director of evangelization to increase parish devotions, shape adult faith formation strategies, and oversee recruitment and training of volunteers. Plan and promote an annual programming calendar while conducting program evaluations and parish-wide assessments. Manage sacramental records, correspondence, and data entry into the Ministry Platform, ensuring compliance with canonical policies and Diocesan Ethics and Integrity in Ministry standards. Adapt initiation procedures to candidate needs and prepare for special rites of Christian initiation. Balance multiple tasks and deadlines, including evening and weekend availability, while maintaining full-time attendance and adhering to all copyright and licensing requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree (preferred) in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field of study from an accredited American university or equivalent in a foreign country
  • Three to five years of full-time wage-earning experience working in a parish and working with adults
  • Bilingual English-Spanish (proficient in writing, reading, conversing and teaching/presenting)
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period
  • Must be able to work on weekends, evenings, and some holidays
  • Must be willing to use personal or parish vehicle to drive to off-site locations
  • Must be willing to travel within and outside the parish to meetings and other events, including overnight lodging
  • Must be able to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly
  • Must be able to balance time and prioritize several tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to create simple but attractive flyers for events and programs in both English and Spanish
  • Must be able to proficiently communicate in English and Spanish (writing, reading, conversing and teaching/presenting)
  • Must be able to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs to manage and organize large amounts of data
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Must be able to carry out and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines, implementing creative solutions
  • Must be able to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format
  • Must be able to work independently, taking initiative to respond to observed needs and to learn whatever may be needed to fulfill responsibilities
  • Must be able to build authentic relationships with adults rooted in Christ as well as reach those just beginning their faith journey
  • Must be able to provide exceptional communication and work effectively with staff, clergy, and laity
  • Must be able to work in a multi-cultural parish serving various cultures and a wide range of age groups
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize and utilize effective time management techniques
  • Must be able to pray for 30 minutes a day
  • Must be able to adapt work schedule to include evenings and weekends when needed

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of (or ability to learn) Ministry Platform and website tools
  • Some familiarity with workflow programs
