Job Summary
Teach multi-level ESL classes to culturally diverse adult learners by planning lessons based on individual needs and maintaining a conducive classroom environment. Support students with instruction and program services while monitoring and recording attendance and academic progress. Make routine operational decisions for classes, meet with a supervisor, and collaborate collegially with program staff. This role requires a bachelor's degree, two years of adult teaching experience, and TESOL certification, with bilingual ability preferred. Work in evening in-person classes from Monday through Thursday.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- TESOL training or a comparable certification for teaching ESL classes
- Subject matter expertise/experience in specific content areas
- Ability to relate well to groups of students of differing abilities and backgrounds
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and through correct written grammar
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues individually and as a team
- Ability to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the interests of students
- Ability to engage learners with creative and stimulating instruction
- Ability to integrate and use technology for instructional and educational purposes
- Part-time, 18 hours per week
- In-person, evening classes Mon-Thurs 6:00pm-8:30pm
