Job Summary
Plan and provide English instruction to limited English proficient adult students using interactive techniques and real-life materials. Develop and implement lessons based on proficiency levels while administering assessments per vendor guidelines. Maintain accurate student records and data using the VDOE Adult Student Profile Document. Deliver distance education instruction, teach basic computer skills, and provide ongoing feedback on student progress. Participate in staff development, meetings, and curriculum activities. Requires a Bachelor's degree, teaching certificate, and proficiency with technology to deliver remote learning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working with limited English proficient students
- experience with language instruction
- Current teaching certificate preferred
- commitment and ability to serve a diverse community, including low-income families
- Self-motivated
- ability to work at a standalone satellite site
- working skills in the use of technology to deliver Distance Education instruction
- communicate via e-mail
- teach basic computer skills to the adult learner
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with specialists, program managers, school administration, and business/community partner agencies
- ability to maintain BEST Literacy, Best Plus and Assessment Policy certifications
Desired Qualifications
- Current teaching certificate preferred
