Job Summary
Provide safe, attentive, and age-appropriate care for children during Adult Education class sessions at Bangor, Covert, and Paw Paw sites. Supervise children according to established safety procedures while planning and facilitating simple educational, recreational, and developmentally appropriate activities. Foster a welcoming, positive, and inclusive environment and maintain a clean, organized childcare space during each session. Communicate professionally with parents and staff regarding concerns or needs, monitoring supplies and notifying the Adult Education Coordinator when materials require replenishment. Perform other duties as assigned that support the Adult Education program.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, school, recreation, or similar setting
- Ability to create a safe, caring, and engaging environment for children of varying ages
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of responsibility and professionalism
- Reliable transportation to Adult Education program sites
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks
- Ability to actively supervise children in an indoor setting
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
Desired Qualifications
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse families
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
