Job Summary
Lead and supervise Adult Day Program Team Members while planning, adapting, and executing recreation activities for adults with disabilities in both in-house and community settings. Assist participants with daily living skills, personal care, and behavior management using CPI techniques, while conducting safety inspections and enforcing program rules. Manage the monthly program budget by logging expenses, maintaining inventory, and producing lesson plans, calendars, and newsletters for the Program Coordinator. Complete necessary documentation including payroll timesheets, accident reports, and behavior summaries, and act as a mandated reporter. Drive a 15-passenger vehicle with a wheelchair lift to transport participants to various sites. This year-round role requires a valid Illinois driver's license and the ability to work independently in a team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities independently of others
- Must have transportation to and from program sites
- A valid state of Illinois Driver's License with a good driving record and driving experience
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger vehicle
- Must support the mission, vision, and values of the agency
- Ability to identify issues and implement timely solutions both independently and/or with guidance from Full Time Team Members
- Ability to problem solve independently or in a timely manner
- Strong ability to read and write clearly and accurately, ensuring that all documentation is organized, complete, and easy to follow
- Ability to organize materials and resources efficiently to support program activities
- Ability to make decisions that are in the best interest of the program, participants, and staff
- Skilled in using basic computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
- Knowledge of basic budgets and money management
- Knowledge of how to respond to challenging situations, including de-escalation techniques, managing behavioral issues, and ensuring safety in high-risk environments
- Ability to make accommodations for adults with disabilities, adjusting to their changing needs and unforeseen challenges
- Ability to be dependable, flexible, punctual, and be ready to perform job duties with commitment and follow-through
- Must have the ability to read, write and organize materials

Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or college degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience planning and programming preferred
- Minimum of two years of experience working with adults with special needs preferred
- Certification in First Aid/CPR preferred or the ability to maintain within 6 months (training will be made available)
- Certification in CPI preferred or the ability to maintain within 6 months (training will be made available)
