Job Summary

Supervise and instruct assigned individuals with disabilities in day programs, guiding them toward outcomes like independence, socialization, and healthy living. Coordinate daily attendance, ensure active engagement in scheduled activities, and provide personal care and support during community outings. Maintain clean work environments, document progress notes and behavior management plans, and assist with trips and special events. Respond to emergency situations, attend ISP and staff meetings, and complete required training and certifications. Maintain a current driver's license and valid CPR/first aid skills.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old
  • Must successfully complete and obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Elwyn New Jersey or regulatory agencies
  • Must submit to a criminal background check and drug test and be determined to be not disqualified by the New Jersey Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served
  • Must agree to have their name checked against the New Jersey Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities and NJ Child Abuse Registry (CARI)
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license in state of residence, have a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within the United States, and have an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to perform CPR and safe care using agency-trained protocols

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in a related field or with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Must be able to perform CPR and safe care using agency-trained protocols
  • Demonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
  • Experience using/knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
