Job Summary

Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and monitoring for adult patients across all care areas. Develop nutrition care plans to manage disease states, prevent complications, and reduce morbidity from malnutrition. Deliver specialized nutrition education and enteral feeding guidance to patients transitioning to home or care facilities. Communicate patient progress to the healthcare team through charted notes, care conferences, and discharge planning rounds. Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns, evaluating competency and delivering didactic presentations. Requires a registered dietitian license in Oregon, clinical dietetic experience in acute care, and proficiency in the nutrition care process. Day shift Monday through Friday with weekend and holiday rotation; frequent on-campus presence required.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree with specialization in dietetics, nutrition, institution management, or a closely related field and completion of a pre-planned professional experience in dietetics at a facility approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
  • Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Licensed Dietitian in the state of Oregon
  • Clinical Dietetic experience in an acute care facility
  • Proficiency in the nutrition care process
  • Ability to determine the nutrient requirements of the adult inpatient to ensure adequate nutrient intake and/or replacement of nutrients loss secondary to medical condition
  • Ability to determine the nutrient make-up of patient's meal patterns and medications (dosage and timing) that affect nutrient and/or drug bioavailability
  • Ability to diagnose malnutrition (competent in Nutrition Focused Physical Exam)
  • Ability to recommend and administer medical nutrition therapy to improve digestion, absorption and metabolism of nutrients
  • Ability to make recommendations concerning adjustment medications that relate to nutrition, in order to promote increased well-being of the patient, maintenance of acceptable blood chemistries, increased bioavailability of drugs, decreased hospitalization days, and cost-effectiveness of regimens
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
  • Availability to work at least four (4) days per pay period

Desired Qualifications

  • MS in Nutrition or related field
  • 1 year clinical experience in an acute care facility
  • Possession of Certification consistent with Clinical Dietitian for Specialist Classification, Washington Certification (CD) for ambulatory care
