Job Summary
Climbing Instructor leads and delivers engaging group and private climbing classes, develops lesson curricula, and supports participants’ growth in Mesa Rim’s climbing programs. Responsibilities include teaching Movement Series, Lead Series, and Group Training Series; ensuring safety and injury-prevention protocols; managing class pacing and group dynamics; providing clear feedback and customer service; assisting in training new team members and helping with equipment adequacy; and contributing to program development and department initiatives. Requires 18+ years old, weekday evening availability (weekends as needed), high school diploma or equivalent, and at least three years of climbing experience. Strong communication, a passion for teaching, and the ability to tailor instruction to client needs are essential. Pay range in San Diego: $25-$34.50 per hour; hours vary by location and business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have weekday evening availability
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have minimum of three years climbing experience
- Must enjoy being a teacher and instructing others
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be customer-service oriented
- Must have intermediate knowledge of climbing technique and movement
- Must have experienced a variety of Mesa Rim climbing classes
- Must demonstrate understanding of all climbing programs content
- Must be able to provide feedback professionally
