Adoptive Parent Mentors

Adoptive Parent Mentor provides support services to adoptive families through education, information access, group facilitation, resource sharing, peer support, and advocacy, and participates in outreach for the MD Post Permanency Program. Responsibilities include serving as a liaison in the foster/adoptive parent communities, providing information and referrals, facilitating virtual peer support groups, building connections for peer support and respite care, promoting adoption/guardianship activities in the community, modeling positive client interactions, and coordinating with therapists to ensure comprehensive support. Requires lived experience as a foster/adoptive parent, trauma-informed parenting understanding, excellent interpersonal/organizational skills, ability to work both in a team and independently, and strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
