Job Summary
Adoptions Specialist coordinates adoption activities, serves as the technical expert in child welfare adoptions, and acts as lead agency liaison for adoption-related matters. Responsibilities include tracking children in custody toward adoption, generating data to support adoption outcomes, collaborating with case management agencies and providers of adoption services, disseminating adoption resources, providing technical assistance and staff training, facilitating pre-adoptive family training and information meetings, and planning recruitment events for waiting children. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field and at least three years of child welfare experience; must hold a valid driver’s license, a current Child Welfare Case Manager Certification, and pass required background checks and screening as part of employment with Family Support Services. Knowledge of Florida statutes and administrative rules governing adoption, strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and proficiency in Excel and Word are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work or related human services field required
- Minimum of three years child welfare experience (2-year background in child welfare adoptions preferred)
- Valid driver's license
- Current Child Welfare Case Manager Certification
- Clear Level II background screening
- Clear a reference check
- Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
- Clear a substance abuse screen
- Clear a Motor Vehicles Records check and must be insurable under the company’s automobile policy
- Provide copy of automobile insurance
- Provide proof of and maintain minimum personal auto liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 if deemed driving risk
- Clear an E-Verify check to meet DHS authorization requirements
