Job Summary
Meet with pre-adoptive foster parents and kinship foster parents to gather information and documents for home studies, adoption subsidies, and finalization processes. Write and organize adoption home studies, prepare subsidy applications, and compile all necessary documentation for adoptive parents' attorneys and KinGap packets. Appear in court for adoption and KinGap finalizations, prepare status update reports for permanency hearings, and attend regular adoption update meetings with leadership. Collaborate with casework, home finding staff, and external medical, mental health, and school personnel while fulfilling the duty of a mandated reporter. Work collaboratively with Supervisor on a weekly basis to discuss permanency issues of the caseload.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- BSW or MSW
- Approved background clearances
- Fingerprinting
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Connections
- Valid NYS Driver License
- Ability to empathize and provide quality services to children and families that have histories of chemical dependency, mental illness, neglect, physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse
- Ability to work closely with children, families, and staff from different cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as from varying socio-economic statuses
- Ability to work competently, compassionately and without judgment with individuals who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or may be in different stages of discovering or disclosing their sexual orientation or gender identity
- Strong belief in people's ability to grow and change
- Flexibility to work extended hours or irregular schedules
- Willingness to travel between the various EFFC offices and other agency sites, as required
- Ability to set limits and maintain the helping role of practitioner, as well as to intervene appropriately
- Mandated Reporter status
