Job Summary
The Adoption Social Worker conducts pre-home studies, psycho-social assessments, and adoption-related services to support permanent, loving families for children in care. Responsibilities include home studies, post-placement reports, case management, family counseling and support, travel within the assigned area, collaboration with Holt offices in Eugene, and adherence to state/country/USCIS guidelines. Requires an MSW (or related field) and a state license where applicable, with extensive experience in adoption services, strong assessment and writing skills, and cross-cultural sensitivity. This is a home-based, part-time role with travel expectations within the Chicago metro area.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in social work or related field strongly preferred
- five years experience in a social service setting
- state license (where applicable)
- proven clinical and assessment skills in adoption services
- ability to conduct psycho-social assessment
- excellent writing and computer skills
- cross cultural sensitivity
- minimum 30 hours of training every two years on adoption practice issues
