Job Summary
Oversee daily nursing operations, supervise nursing staff, and ensure 24-hour coverage while serving as the Infection Control Preventionist. Partner with the Director of Nursing to drive quality initiatives, manage audits, and lead interdisciplinary care planning. Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate nursing personnel, including counseling and recommending disciplinary actions. Perform administrative duties such as charting, completing medical forms, and developing work assignments. Conduct daily rounds to assess resident conditions, monitor medication passes, and coordinate therapeutic services. Step in as Director of Nursing when needed to ensure continuity of leadership and care.
Required Qualifications
- degree in Nursing from an accredited school
- current, unencumbered, active license to practice as in state
- physical examination and/or evidence from a physician indicating free of communicable disease
- good physical and mental health
- ability to work independently or part of a group
- effectively communicate with others
- valid driver's license with good driving record and be at least 21 years of age
- 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility
- ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
Desired Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree
- Working knowledge of the needs of geriatric complex care requiring long term care, the principles of management, supervision, organizational behavior and structure, and communication systems
- Previous long-term care experience
- Computer knowledge
