Job Summary
Review medication orders to ensure accuracy and perform mathematical calculations for drug measurements. Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications as ordered by prescribers while properly donning and doffing personal protective equipment. Maintain necessary records and logs for clinical research trials, waste manifests, and biological safety cabinet cleaning. Order, stock, and dispense medical supplies and drugs through inventory management, auditing, and reconciliation processes. Handle and dispose of hazardous drugs and waste materials following state and federal regulations. Collaborate with various departments to track and order patient drugs, minimizing interruptions in care. Complete all required education and training by organization, state, federal, and regulatory agencies. Document and report drug loss, communicate clinic charges, and initiate drug replacement or reimbursement. Float to meet clinic needs with 75%-100% weekly travel expectations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Professional pharmacy technician certification (or equivalent)
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- Minimum of one year experience as a pharmacy or admixture technician
- Experience in a clinical setting
- IV sterile admixture experience
- Critical thinking skills including solid problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment
- Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness
- Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters
