Job Summary

Assist an admissions counselor by relaying college information to prospective students via phone, email, text, and in-person interactions. Organize travel details, conduct regional research, and represent the college at school fairs or church visits. Record all communications in Slate, supervise one evening or Saturday shift weekly, and help with registration, tours, and airport pick-ups. Cold-call prospective students to share application details and participate in virtual recruiting events. Attend mandatory training sessions and follow the Assistant Admissions Counselor manual. This full academic year work-study position requires 10 hours per week at Probasco from Monday through Friday, 8am to 9pm.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a Covenant student participating in the work-study program
  • Must be a Covenant student
  • Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs
  • Must be able to dress professionally and appropriately for your job
  • Must be able to attend chapel services at least once per week, on average
  • Must be able to communicate openly and honestly
  • Must be able to make suggestions when appropriate
  • Must be able to take ownership of your job
  • Must be able to do good work
  • Must be able to be punctual
  • Must be able to work 10 hours of work per week
  • Must be able to supervise one, 3.5 hour, evening or Saturday shift each week
  • Must be able to follow all guidelines as specified in the Assistant Admissions Counselor manual
  • Must be able to attend mandatory Assistant Admissions Counselor training sessions
  • Must be able to communicate through a variety of mediums: text (GoogleVoice), phone calls, email, handwritten notes, and in-person
  • Must be able to organize travel details and conduct regional research
  • Must be able to represent Covenant College at a school fair or visit a church with an AC
  • Must be able to organize prospective students' recruiting information and report pertinent information to your AC regarding recruit communication
  • Must be able to be familiar with and appropriately record all communications in Slate
  • Must be able to cold-call prospective students to share information about Covenant, the application process, and visits
  • Must be able to participate in virtual recruiting events/calls
  • Must be able to help with registration
  • Must be able to give tours
  • Must be able to assist an individual admissions counselor in their work
  • Must be able to relay information about all aspects of the college (with special attention to Admissions and Financial Aid) and any individualized pertinent information to prospective students
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate why he/she chose to attend Covenant College
  • Must have excellent oral (particularly over the phone) and written communication skills
  • Must have strong initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must have energy and empathy to engage prospective students and parents from a variety of backgrounds
  • Must have robust relational and storytelling capabilities
  • Must have acute attention to detail and administrative tasks to be completed promptly
  • Must have at least 2 semesters of work experience in Admissions or Visit Staff
  • Must have office work experience
  • Must have involvement in clubs or organizations at Covenant and/or campus leadership (current or previously held at Covenant)
  • Must have resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed
  • Must have career & self-development including interpersonal skills and learning basic office skills that can be translated to many other workplaces
  • Must have communication in the form of phone calls, emails, and text messages with students, as well as in-person interactions during visit events
  • Must have critical thinking in the form of learning problem solving when students ask you questions you don't necessarily know the answers to
  • Must have global literacy displayed by interacting with students all over the country, and sometimes the world
  • Must have leadership through leading by example in a team setting
  • Must have professionalism by taking ownership of your schedule in a job that encourages you to take responsibility for your work
  • Must have teamwork through working on a team that builds each other up and seeks to encourage each other in their work for the kingdom
  • Must have technology by learning our CRM database and how to interpret student information
  • Must be able to sit remaining in the seated position
  • Must be able to express or exchange ideas through the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Must be able to perform substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including frequent use of a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment

Desired Qualifications
