Job Summary
Volunteer provides administrative and clerical support for hospice operations, assisting with general office duties, outbound calls to patients or caregivers using approved scripts, data entry and database updates, document preparation (admission packets, bereavement materials, volunteer packets), mailings and inventory management, and maintaining confidentiality of patient and organizational information in line with HIPAA; supports administrative tasks for volunteer services, bereavement programs, or special projects as needed; reports to Volunteer Coordinator or Business Office Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Age Requirement 18+ years old
- Completion of hospice volunteer training, including topics such as hospice philosophy, infection control, safety, communication, boundaries, and end-of-life care
- Background check and health screening (including TB testing)
- Adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality policies
- Reliable attendance and communication, commitment to scheduled volunteer hours
- Adheres to infection control and safety procedures in accordance with hospice policy
- Office environment with computer use
- Competency validation, ongoing training, and performance evaluation as required by hospice policy
