Job Summary
Administrative Assistant / Legal Assistant supporting a litigation group focused on child protection matters in Yellowknife with potential postings to Calgary or Vancouver offices. Responsibilities include document preparation, file management, formatting and proofreading legal documents, maintaining physical/electronic filing systems, tracking deadlines and court dates, time/expense entry, liaising with internal/external contacts, and providing general administrative support. Requires professional discretion, strong organizational and communication skills, ability to manage high volumes, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. 12- to 18-month term contract, in-office roles based in Yellowknife, Calgary, or Vancouver.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an administrative assistant or office administration program (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 2–4 years of administrative experience, preferably in a legal, government, or professional services environment
- Experience supporting litigation or family/child protection matters is considered an asset
- Familiarity with court processes, legal documentation, or file management systems is an asset but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing demands
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
