Job Summary

Obtain patient histories, perform physical exams, and formulate differential diagnoses for Internal Medicine and Pediatric Clinic patients. Order diagnostic tests including laboratory work and X-rays, then administer injections and interpret lab results where qualified. Provide anticipatory guidance, educate caregivers, and utilize cost-effective medications while avoiding narcotics except for acute pain. Manage patient flow by triaging individuals and assigning rooms, conduct telehealth and home visits, and lead data inquiries for insurance companies. Design preventative health systems, implement outreach campaigns, and offer advanced care planning. Document all encounters thoroughly in Aprima within 72 hours to support billing, participate in chart audits, and collaborate with midlevel practitioners on clinical cases. Maintain active medical staff privileges at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy
  • Maintain state/national certification in the area of expertise and maintain in good standing with the Mississippi Medical Licensure Board
  • Participate in CME that will satisfy certification requirements
  • Maintain a minimum of Active Medical Staff privileges at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County located in New Albany, Mississippi or any successor facility

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain history and perform physical exams to formulate a differential diagnosis, treatment plan and education for the presenting problem
  • Ability to order diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests and X-rays
  • Ability to perform a variety of simple procedures as needed to treat patients
  • Ability to give injections, perform & interpret laboratory test (where qualified), triage patients and assign rooms
  • Ability to utilize medications that are cost effective and available for the patients specified condition
  • Ability to utilize antibiotics only when warranted
  • Ability to engage patients using Telehealth, one on one visits, group visits, Home Visits and phone visits
  • Ability to complete data inquiries for various insurance companies
  • Ability to design and implement systems that maximally utilize preventative health services
  • Ability to develop and implement outreach campaigns to drive patient engagement
  • Ability to offer advanced care planning
  • Ability to utilize Aprima electronic medical record system
  • Ability to document clinical content including patient information and physical exam to the degree that it was actually performed
  • Ability to complete all charts within 72 hours of the encounter
  • Ability to participate in activities that improve the overall care of patients as directed by Managing Partners
