Job Summary
Coordinate the setup and administration of new litigation and non-litigation matters, preparing attorney engagement materials and facilitating onboarding of outside counsel. Manage legal billing through multiple e-billing platforms, including invoice review, routing, approvals, and payment tracking, while serving as the primary point of contact for internal clients, law firms, and vendors. Track legal settlements, verify supporting documentation, and prepare monthly accrual and spend reports for leadership. Maintain electronic legal files, ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements, and provide training on department systems. Assist with vendor onboarding and perform other administrative duties as assigned. This role supports the Legal Department at Service Corporation International, the largest provider of funeral, cemetery, and cremation services in North America.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least five (5) year's administrative assistance experience
- Experience with legal billing, invoice processing, or financial administration
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Advanced Excel (conditional formatting, pivot tables, graphs) and Power Point skills to produce executive level high quality documents
- Proficient MS Office and Word
- Ability to keep confidential or proprietary knowledge to one's self
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments
