Job Summary
Provide comprehensive administrative support to department chairs and faculty in the Art, Music, and Theater departments. Manage department initiatives including jury schedules for applied music lessons, grant audit coordination, performance event planning, and piano maintenance schedules. Offer general office assistance such as mail processing, supply ordering, and coordinating departmental mailings while collaborating with the Office of Development for donor reporting. Directly supervise student staff, handling interviews, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and complaint resolution. Maintain confidentiality, prepare reports, and handle stressful situations calmly.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years proven administrative experience
- Post-secondary education or associate's degree preferred
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficient in the use of all components of Microsoft Office
- Good design capability
- Prior web experience helpful
- Interest in continual acquisition of skills
- Ability to use a copy machine
- Excellent written communication and proofreading skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all materials handled and seen in process of performing job responsibilities
- Ability to have professional appearance for greeting students, faculty and campus visitors
- Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, orderly, and accurate manner
- Ability to complete work on time
- Ability to amicably deal with the public
- Ability to work independently in order to organize and prioritize workload
