Job Summary
Administrative and Academic Coordinator to support academic initiatives, departmental events, and daily administrative operations within the CMU Department of Chemical Engineering. Responsibilities include providing administrative support to academic faculty leadership, coordinating events from planning through execution (commencement, symposia, orientation), managing purchasing, expense tracking, travel bookings for guests/faculty/students, and vendor relationships. The role requires strong organizational skills, customer service, ability to manage multiple priorities, and effective communication with faculty, students, staff, and external partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications, plus experience in an education or event coordination setting, are highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; associate degree in business administration or a related field strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of relevant administrative or event experience
- Experience in a higher education environment and/or event coordination preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Adobe applications
- Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
