Job Summary
Adjunct Professor of Education for Middle/Secondary Social Studies will teach undergraduate courses in Social Studies Education, focusing on social studies pedagogy, curriculum design, and instructional methods. Responsibilities include planning and delivering in-person instruction, assessing student learning, maintaining academic records, developing syllabi and assignments aligned with DESE and AAQEP accreditation standards, and contributing to curriculum development and assessment activities. The position emphasizes engaging, student-centered instruction, integrating social studies theories (history, geography, economics) into curriculum, promoting culturally responsive teaching, and ensuring alignment with state teaching certification standards. Required qualifications include a Master’s in Social Studies or related field (Doctoral degree preferred), demonstrated higher education teaching experience, at least three years of middle/secondary social studies teaching experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas/Blackboard; in-person instruction commitment is essential. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Studies or a closely related field; Doctoral degree preferred
- Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education
- Minimum of three years of experience teaching social studies in middle/secondary schools
- Ability to integrate theories of social science perspectives with social studies curriculum design and instructional practice
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to in-person instruction and active student engagement
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canvas, Blackboard, or a similar platform
