Job Summary
Bergen Community College is inviting applications for adjunct positions in the World Languages department for Fall and Winter 2026. Open adjuncts are sought to teach American Sign Language (ASL), German, Hebrew, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish courses. Each language requires a master’s degree (or native speaker with the appropriate degree) and about two years of high school/college teaching experience. Candidates must be willing to teach day and/or evening classes in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst. The adjunct rate is $960 per credit for those with a Master’s degree. The college offers tuition waivers for BCC courses for the adjunct and dependents, plus ABP and 403b benefits. The department offers courses across multiple languages and focuses on developing students’ cultural understanding and language proficiency. Equal employment opportunity statements are included.
Required Qualifications
- American Sign Language/Deaf Studies:Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree + native speaker; ASLTA certification preferred; minimum two years teaching experience at high school/college level; availability to teach day or evening classes in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
- German:Master’s degree in German Language or Literature (or native speaker + degree); two years teaching experience at high school/college level; available to teach day and/or evening sections in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
- Hebrew:Master’s degree in Hebrew Language or Literature (or native speaker + degree); two years teaching experience at high school/college level; available to teach day and/or evening sections in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
- Japanese:Master’s degree in Japanese Language or Literature (or native speaker + degree); two years teaching experience at high school/college level; available to teach day and/or evening sections in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
- Russian:Master’s degree in Russian Language or Literature (or native speaker + degree); two years teaching experience at high school/college level; available to teach day and/or evening sections in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
- Spanish:Master’s degree in Spanish Language or Literature (or native speaker + degree); two years teaching experience at high school/college level; available to teach day or evening sections in Paramus and/or Lyndhurst.
